Reid has top three
Albert Reid has one more high school football game that he will be playing in and then the three star running back will turn his attention to making his college choice. The 2011 Washington D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year no longer considers himself committed to West Virginia and is now considering three school, including Iowa, where he visited earlier this month.
"Right now I like Iowa, Maryland, and Vanderbilt. I don't want to say anyone is my top school, but I am looking at all three of those schools closely and what they have to offer," Reid said Friday morning.
The 5-foot-11 and 195 pound athlete is projected to play running back at the college level. He says his mid-December visit to Iowa City left a strong impression in terms of the people he met and what the Iowa Football program had to offer.
"It was really good visit," he said. "I really enjoyed the whole environment there and the coaches and the players were really nice people. I really like the offense that they run and that they run the football. I feel like I would have a good opportunity there."
Reid is also considering Vanderbilt and Maryland, a school that is closer to home. He indicated that both programs had a lot of good things to offer, but he is doing his own research into all three schools to find the best fit for him at the college level.
"I am looking at all three schools as far as football and academics. I want to study mechanical engineering in college, so that is important to me. Right now I plan on continuing to my own research on the three schools and then I plan to make my decision sometime in January."
This past season Reid rushed for 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning him an invitation to the annual Chesapeake Bowl, which features many of the top senior football players from the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Reid will be playing for the South squad in the game that will be played on December 30th in Maryland.
