August 17, 2012The workouts that Stewartville's Cody Carpentier and his team mates endure during Two-a-days are mind boggling! Check out his report and see for yourselves: Our 2-a-days are looking tough and the intensity has really picked up with players adapting to new plays and formations. It's going to be a good year, Runningback Cody Stanger, and Safety/Corner Zach Schwalbach, have shown vast inprovement from last year. Stewartville is also looking to Section title game appearance with a bang. Defence should be tops in the HVL with a Big Defensive line - with two 6'4 d-ends. The team is coming togeather very well and everybody is in great shape. Our top conditioners are Gasers and County Fairs along with Play Sprints. Gassers are where you start on 1 sideline and run the width of the field down back down back in a sprint fashion, and do 10 sets of those with a minute in between. County fairs are divided into 5 groups 1.monkey rolls 2. Up down 3. Bear crawls in circles around dumbies 4. Square agility runs 5. W agility runs all 3 minutes of 120% or you keep going if not going hard enough. Many underclassmen have stepped up to the challenge of replacing our '12 seniors. We are excited for the season, and as a team worked very hard this summer. Our training was very difficult both physically and mentally. For us the last week of summer training is called SEAL week, and we have very tough workouts. The first day we did 1,000 body weight squats, 10 minutes of planks, and 1 mile around the track forward, and another mile around the track backwards, or "SEAL laps." The second day we did 1,000 push ups, 100 pull ups, and another 10 minutes of planks. Finally, on the last day, we did 1,000 reps of inverted abs, and 10 minutes of jump roping. Overall, our team worked very hard this summer, and we are looking forward to another great year.
