September 11, 2013Waseca is 2-0 for the season with a big 41-13 win over Little Falls in their opener. Week two was more challenging with an OT 34-28 win over St. Croix Lutheran. Waseca is only the second team to defeat St. Croix on their home field in four years. DeLaSalle is the other. Waseca QB, Thomas O'neil. has been putting up big numbers to date. He threw 19 of 35 passes for 277 yards and rushed for 78 yards as well. Five of those completions resulted in touchdowns. Last year the Bluejays were 3-6. In 2011-12 they were 5-5. They face St. Peter this coming Friday. St. Peter is coming into the game with a 2-0 record of their own, with wins over LeSuer-Henderson (41-7) and New Ulm (46-12). St. Peter was 7-2 last season and defeated Waseca 20-6 in a late October contest. O'Neil's receivers included Lucas Johnson. with two touchdowns, and Jacob Laube with three. Other strong players included: Jimmy Ebertowski, Isaiah Williamson and Brett Wickersheim.
