October 12, 2013In Class 6A Both Maple Grove and Eden Prairie won this week and they remain the only two teams in the top class with a perfect record. Maple Grove has more wins with a 7-0 record, compared to EP's 6-0 season. They defeated Coon Rapids 49-14 and have a single game remaining against neighborhood rival Champlin Park. CP picked up their third win of the season 21-10 over Anoka. It looks very good for Maple Grove to finish undefeated unless Champlin pulls a rabbit out of the hat. It needs to be a very skilled rabbit at that, and it should probably play both ways. Eden Prairie's game ended in their favor 49-14, duplicating the Maple Grove vs. Coon Rapids score. EP took down Wayzata at Eden Prairie for that win. The EP Eagles have Hopkins for their final game. Hopkins, like Champlin Park is having a tough season. Their 41-7 loss to Edina Friday evening put them at 2-5. Hopkins will have to visit the same magic shop as Champlin in prepping for their game against the Eagles. Both of these 6A teams should expect to finish the season with perfect records. It will be interesting to see if they meet up in the second season. When I visited Maple Grove last week that was their wish. Just one more week of regular play and we will see everyone reset and go at it again in Sections.
