The first day of the Adidas 3SSB Boys Session I in Council Bluffs Iowa jumped off dynamically! Games were entertaining as well as evaluative of the next bunch of up-and-coming superstars. One team stood out on the first day. They stood out due to their intensity and comradery on the court.
Anthony Edward's AE5 16U squad is special. Firstly, every player on the team is a legitimate Division One prospect! They seem to play for each other which becomes evident when they are throwing alley-oop dunks and finding the open man. If I were a head coach, my recruiting would start and end with AE5 16U. All that is missing is a legitimate big. I would scholarship the entire team and make a huge push in the NCAA once I secured their commitment and they stepped on campus following graduation in 2026.
They are led by 2026 Wing 6'8" Jalan Wingfield. Wingfield is underrated. He is one of a few kids I have seen on the first day who can handle the ball, shoot from deep, and have a nice touch around the basket. He possesses a collegiate body with great athleticism. Wingfield is AE5's utility guy. He can do it all. What's impressive about him is his high basketball IQ and motor. Wingfield will be considered a high division one prospect by the end of the AAU season.
AE5 doesn't stop with Wingfied. There is a class 2027 point guard who should be considered one of the best in his class. Gene Keith III is playing up but you would not know it. Keith possesses the IQ and savvy of a veteran point guard on the court. Keith runs the show and gets everyone involved. He can score on all three levels. Has a nice crafty handle and spectacular court vision. He values every possession no matter if they are up or down by 30. Simply put, he does not make many mistakes. He is one of the best true point guards in Session I.
