AMERICAN CAMP 2024 TAKEAWAYS FOR COLLEGE COACHES PART I: WINTERS GRADY

Winters Grady is a prolific shooter, has great range, and can score from all three levels. While watching one of his games, the opposing coach warned one of his defenders to stay with WG, not to leave him, and he could shoot! Winters hit a three on that very possession and the coach hollered, "See, what did I tell you!" the ultimate compliment.

Winters Grady isn’t a great athlete, but he knows who he is and doesn’t try to do too much…he’s a willing defender, does a good job helping and playing the passing lanes, and is better than average in one-on-one defensive situations…is a fair rebounder, boxes out well on the defensive end, but plays mostly on the perimeter so big rebound numbers aren’t really his game…offensively is unselfish, has better than average handles and can handle it fine vs. pressure.

Winters Grady is outstanding in the open court/transition, will pitch it ahead to an open teammate and fill the wing spot up. He runs the floor well. Grady can beat you off the dribble and finish with either hand or has a great mid-range pull-up game. Grady is disciplined on offense, takes good shots, and doesn’t force things. He is a good passer, sees the floor, can create scoring opportunities for teammates…has a good basketball IQ, and is a great teammate…in the pick-and-roll game he’s a spot-up guy and plays facing the basket, again he knows who he is.
