Class 2027 Asher Collins is a name you may want to remember! The 6'8" rising sophomore wing has his best basketball ahead of him. What is intriguing about Collins is his athleticism and motor. He has a great touch around the basket and can step out and knock down shots beyond the arch. With the addition of ball skills, Collins will be a force soon. We caught up with the rising sophomore for an interview.

Rivals: What motivates you to work so hard at this game?

AC: Achieving my dream of playing professional basketball motivates me every day to play professional basketball, this is why I work so hard.

Rivals: What challenging moment has helped define you thus far considering basketball?

AC: One challenging moment for me was joining my first AAU basketball team. Everyone was so much better than me. It made me want to quit the sport entirely. This changed my approach to the sport, seeing my teammates and friends as competition to beat. It made me work harder knowing my best basketball is ahead of me.

Rivals: How do you manage your time to be successful in school?

AC: Balancing academics and athletics is very difficult. It is something that you learn to manage the longer you do it. Typically I focus on my studies first, because they are the most important. In my house academics always come first.

Rivals: Who is your biggest influence or role model when considering sports?

AC: My biggest role model in basketball has been my dad. Hearing stories about him in high school and college from his friends. Turns out my dad was pretty good at basketball and football. The wake-up drives he has taken me on, and all the mid-game coaching he has given me inspire and motivate me to do my part and give my best effort. He tells me every great athlete pays a FEE! FEE is (Focus, Energy, Effort).

Rivals: What are your goals for the future?

AC: My goals beyond high school basketball are to play Division 1 and professional basketball. I plan to do this by standing out from the players in my class while making my game as unique as possible. After basketball, I want to coach at the collegiate level and then move up to the pro level. I want to be around basketball for the rest of my life.
