Week 3 of 2009 fall league play was a quiet week. The MBA league at Minnehaha Academy was off. The Magic league had only 4 games on Saturday. Sunday had a number of players missing fall league play due to the Pump N Run camp. Here are the weekend's notes.
Saturday action at Jefferson in the Magic fall league featured a pair of mixed squads going at it in the TWolves against Gamblers game. The TWolves with an early 16-10 lead thanks to the interior play of Hudson's Eric Schmechel. The Gamblers extended the defense with traps to take control. 27-20 Gamblers lead at the half. They hold on for the 68-59 win. Notables from the Gamblers squad included Elijah Sabah and sophomore Sean Scott from Spring Lake Park and Richfield's Jay Sewer. Sewer struggled with his shot in this game but he finished with 13 points and 6 assists. Sabah leads the way with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

Kyle Noreen with 3 easy putbacks during that run with the rest of the team hot from behind the arc. The Gamblers come all the way back and they take a 36-35 lead to halftime. Transitions hangs on for the 73-66 win. Kyle Noreen with 10 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Jay Sewer with 18 points in the loss. Both games were fast paced and entertaining to watch.
Sunday featured the second annual Pump N Run camp. 45 players from freshmen to seniors attended the camp. The first hour of the camp was small group work with 3 groups of guards, 2 groups of forwards and 1 group of centers. The groups built up from 1 on 1 work to 4 on 4 work. After the group work, the players were broken into age divisions for games. The play of the day was a alley-oop dunk by Kyle Noreen off a great pass from St. Paul Johnson's Estan Tyler. Tyler and Winona's Alec Brown were 2 of the day's top players.
News and notes from the weekend. Kevin Noreen missed action this weekend as he took an official visit to Boston College this weekend. Shelby Moats attended the Minnesota vs Wisconsin football game as part of a look at Minnesota. Alec Brown will take official visits to Loyola and Wisconsin-Green Bay the next 2 weekends.
