Friends and family celebrate with Royce White

Friends and family gathered at the Martin Luther King Center in St. Paul Minnesota this past evening to attend a reception for Royce White. Ken Lien, chairman of the Mr. Basketball Committee, presented Royce with his trophy and praised Royce's accomplishments.
Royce played his early games at the center and his first coach was in attendance looking on in pride as his pupil accepted Minnesota's top individual player award.
Ken Novak Sr., who helps Ken Novak Jr., coach at Hopkins High School spoke at the event. Mr. White and Royce also addressed the packed room and talked about family history and told basketball stories.
Royce will be graduating soon and will be joining the increasing number of top Minnesota players who are choosing to stay home and play basketball for the Golden Gophers under the able direction of Tubby Smith.
