Hopkins 6-foot-7 power forward Mike Broghammer has earned three stars at his position and he is looking more and more like a high major recruit. Coming into July Broghammer had several solid mid-major offers but his focus was on drawing the attention of major conference schools and that is what he did.

Coming into the Peach Jam with the Howard Pulley Panthers Mike Broghammer was having a sold showing in AAU basketball and had earned solid offers including those from Southern Illinois, Colorado State, and Illinois State. At 6-foot-7 Broghammer is one of the harder working four man in the Midwest, he understands positioning as well as anybody in the low post, and he's finished a high percentage of his shots at the rim.
But at 6-foot-7 Mike needed to show schools that his game included a consistent mid-range game and at the Peach Jam he knocked down several jumpers from 12 feet and out including some three-pointers. On hand to see him score 22 and 24 points at the Peach Jam were coaches from Notre Dame and Penn State and after these showings they were convinced Mike could play power forward for them at the high major level.
Just last night Notre Dame sent a coach to watch Broghammer at a Hopkins open gym and they are sitting real well with Broghammer. "Notre Dame has been on my pretty hard," said Broghammer. "I think I'm pretty close to making a decision. I want to take a couple visits including one to Notre Dame the first weekend in September and then I think I may decide."
The Irish have seen Mike play numerous times this summer and have been after Broghammer intently. "I like Notre Dame and they are in my top three with Illinois State and Penn State," Mike explained. "Coach Mike Brey has seen me a couple times and I have been shooting the basketball very well this last month in front of coaches."
Broghammer will leave tomorrow for Europe as the Howard Pulley Panthers are touring several countries and taking eight players on the trip.
