Marshall decides on the Bears

Minnesota's best players have been making their decisions this month, and that group now includes one of the state's elite scorers - Marcus Marshall.
Marshall, who plays for St. Paul Johnson High School and 43 Hoops Basketball Club, made his decision this evening, choosing to play for the 2010-11 Missouri Valley Conference regular season champions.

"Marcus Marshall has officially committed to Missouri State," said Al Harris who was both Marshall's AAU Coach and varsity assistant coach the last two seasons.
Marshall selected the Bears over offers from Albany, Buffalo, Florida Gulf Coast, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Indiana State, Kent State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Towson and Hampton. He was also getting some interest from Butler, Minnesota, Iowa and Penn State.
"What stood out about Missouri State was how they really paid attention to detail concerning me and my future," said Marshall. "That really caught me and my father's attention. Not only did they want to help me on the court but also was a student athlete and a person.
"I just want to thank my family, my AAU Coach Al Harris, also my high school coach Vern Simmons. I'm just really excited to be a Bear."
Marshall has also spent time with the Missouri State coaches and been on their campus as he was at their camp this past summer.
