6'4" Edina Hornet Mark Handbergcompleted 22 of 28 passes last week for 185 yards. He delivers the ball on the move and as his stats illustrate he is very effective.
Handberg weights in at 210 and also Captains the Baseball and Basketball teams. He is an excellent student at a tough academic school with a 3.4 GPA and a 28 on his ACT.
Handberg talks about his experience and his style:
"I've Played since 8th grade, varsity starter for 2 years. I am an elusive QB quick not fast, strong arm and accurate. 60% of my throws are on the run outside the pocket."
Last week he helped Edina Hornets knock off undefeated, number one ranked, Eden Prairie.
"Against EP I threw 28 passes completing 22 for 185 yards. 7 different players caught a pass. Average completion was 8.5 yards with the longest 30 yards. On the season my completion percent is about 68% with the longest gain 97 yards. Decisions are based on coverage and protection. Line has improved tremendously and we tun twice as much as we throw. I seem to always be scrambling but the line and backs do a great job of getting back into the play."
Handberg will play college ball, he is being recruited for baseball as well at football.
"I've been recruited by a number of division 1A and 2 schools and have but have not made any trips, though one offered me a full ride if I would visit. I'm also the captain of the Basketball and Baseball teams and am being actively recruited at all levels at 1st base."
