Moving On

The open period of July recruiting is two days in and while the incredibly massive amount of Minnesota AAU teams has seen struggle, there are some programs that have really stood out. So this morning Minnesota Preps is giving our subscribers a four pack showcasing the 17s teams within our border who have had the best performances on Wednesday and Thursday.
43 Hoops BC defeated Northwestern Ohio Basketball Club on Thursday to win their pool going undefeated led by the 22 points from Marcus Marshall. Then, in the bracket play round of 64, 43 Hoops received 28 points from Marcus Tyus and 17 points and six rebounds from Sean Scott defeating the Florida Rams 69-62. Today 43 BC has the Kansas City Pump N Run.

The Minnesota Heat won their pool with a massive win led by 15 points from Josh Tismer. Then they defeated the Nashville Celtics in bracket play 59-57 led by the 20 points and eight boards from Mitch Kuck and 11 from Justin Pahl. Tismer had eight boards and seven points in that win. Next up for them is the Houston Hoopstars.
The Minnesota Comets won two of three in pool play highlighted yesterday by an 83-66 win over the Wisconsin Blizzard. Earlier in the event they defeated the Iowa Pump N Run by six points. In a couple hours they will begin bracket play against East Troy Hoops Club. The Comets are coming off a tournament championship in the Great Plains Alliance last weekend.
Howard Pulley White lost to the Colorado Titans in their first game by a single point and were led by the 13 points from 2014 sharp shooting Jake Wright from Hopkins. They bounced back to defeat the Illinois Rising Stars and Kingdom Hoops II by convincing numbers. Their next opponent will be the Iowa Barnstormers.

Also in NY2LA bracket play Grassroots Minnesota faces the SW Illinois Jets, Net Gain takes on the Colorado Titans, and Minnesota Southside faces NLP-LJ. Al three of these Minnesota teams were 1-2 in pool play but made the top bracket.
Tyler Vaughan grabbed his fourth NSIC offer yesterday when Augustana extended a tender to him. Look for more on Tyler this weekend as Preps was able to catch up for him for an article.
Sanjay Lumpkin added recent offers from Richmond and American. His Pump N Run squad went 2-1 in pool play in Indy including a win over the Franchize All Stars. They were defeated in bracket play in round one by Full Package. The Pump N Run also performed very well winning a couple games against good competition.
Joey King grabbed his first division one offers from Drake and Santa Clara recently as we reported a few days ago.
Riley Dearring of DeLaSalle High and Net Gain Sports has picked up an offer from Illinois State.
