Get to know the name Donald Ferguson III. The 6'2" class 2022 PG from Osseo currently flies under the radar in Minnesota. When one thinks of point guards in Minnesota Trejuan Holloman, Eli King, Willie Wilson, Alonzo Dodd comes to mind, and for good reason! They are the elite and definite cream of the crop! We have to consider adding Osseo's Donald Ferguson III to the list.
We studied Ferguson's game this year and last and love what we see! Ferguson continues to evolve. If it were not for a limited COVID AAU season his stock would be much more valuable! Ferguson is a do-it-all point guard that can play on or off the ball. With the ball in his hands, he is a playmaker with the ability to make his teammates better.
At the moment Ferguson III seems like a pass-first point guard with great decision-making IQ. At times that could be a minor flaw. Ferguson III can score and sometimes passes up shots searching for a better play for teammates when he should let it fly. When he is GO-MODE he literally takes over games! It allows for a more effective pick and roll and an exemplification of basketball IQ.
When Ferguson plays off the ball he extends the floor with "IN THE GYM RANGE." Ferguson can flat out stroke it! He is definitely one of the premier perimeter shooters in the state of Minnesota. He is just as prolific as Minnehaha's Donovan Smith, and Park Center's Braeden Carrington who hold offers from division one programs like Drake and Florida.
Ferguson's shooting might be the best part of his game at the moment. He has worked on his shooting range-extending it well beyond the arc. We call this kid a REAP3R. He is a silent killer from beyond the arc. We don't give that tag to just anyone! Ferguson III reminds us of another REAP3R ESPN #18 ranked Skyy Clark who just committed to Kentucky.
