The 2009 class of Minnesota basketball players looks like it could produce anywhere from 15 to 20 division one prospects. Royce White was recently listed as a five star player and he is amongst five Minnesotans who have already committed to division one schools. Committing over the winter was Henry Sibley power forward Mike Bruesewitz.

These are the current prospect rankings for Minnesota's 2009 class. Prospect rankings look at who will be the top players for colleges about three years from now so potential has a lot to do with these rankings.
A player's performance during the high school season is obviously considered, but it's not the principal factor and that is where potential comes in. Other things considered are the level of collegiate basketball that is foreseen for them playing at in the future as well as success amongst competition at the top level in the spring thus far.
I also left off some of the guys who I don't think will play college basketball like other sport stars Ra'Shede Hageman, Moses Alipate, and Kyle Melcher.
