Rock has five offers

Wayzata athlete Fritz Rock has spent the last few months traveling the country and putting on stellar workouts for scouts and coaches alike. Whether it is at wideout, linebacker, safety or even as a return man, Rock has made a good enough impression on five schools to earn offers and more could be on the way.
As a junior Fritz showed flashes of what so many schools are looking at out in the summer camp tour. He has two of the best hands in the nation and last year at wideout Rock helped the Trojans win games with important receptions.

At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds Rock looks to be outgrowing the wideout position and that's where the "athlete" position label comes in. Add another year at Wayzata working out with the team along with a college weight program next summer and you can expect Fritz to be in the area of 225 pounds at the college level.
So what position are we looking at? He still has amazing hands so wide receiver will be his primary spot at Wayzata but he could be in some defensive packages at linebacker and/or safety.
With Rock several things are still up in the air as far as the future goes but what is for sure is that Fritz has put himself in good position as far as choosing a school goes. He has accumulated offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Washington State, Western Michigan, and Northern Illinois. Plus he was recently at one day camps at Boston College and Wisconsin and in the next day or two those schools will be making their decision on whether to offer Rock or not.
"Right now I have five D1 offers and all of them are good schools," explained Rock. "So, recruiting is going well. I have attended three camps, the US Army Junior Combine, the Under Armour camp, and the Nike /Rivals.Com Camp. I did really well at all three camps and made the all-combine team at all three camps. "
So is Fritz leaning one way or the other? "To tell you the truth I don't have a favorite school or conference. I have about 20 plus schools that really do like me as a player and have kept in touch with me on a weekly basis. My recruitment is still wide-open and hopefully I can make a decision about a school by August 1st before football camp."
When August camp starts the Wayzata Trojans quest for a state title will be in full swing. One of a few early favorites to win the title the Trojans are looking to avenge last year's state quarterfinal loss to Brainerd.
"In 2007 we as a team made it our goal to just not get to the Dome but win it all," Rock explained. "As a team we played really well. Our defense was our strong point of our team last season. They really played big especially during the playoffs. We made it to the quarter-finals and lost to Brainerd. As far as my individual stats, I was really disappointed at my numbers. I still made big plays when the ball came my way but I wish I could of done more to help my team beat Edina and Brainerd last season."
So with extra motivation to have a big senior year, Rock joins several other Trojans seniors on a very experienced team. "The majority of the team will be seniors and we all know we have the talent and players to bring another state championship to Wayzata," said Rock. "As far as areas my area of focus, I'm getting bigger, stronger and faster. I'm with my teammates four or five days a week training and getting ready for the 2008 season."
The guys at Wayzata just want to represent their school's proud football heritage as Trojan football is a school wide focus. "Game day at Wayzata is pretty cool," Fritz stated. "Everyone is telling you good luck at tonight's game throughout the school day. Game night all the guys are in the lockerroom blasting music and getting their equipment ready for "THE SHOW". Playing for Wayzata is a feeling that words can't really describe."
And what is the ultimate goal of the 2008 season?
"This year I just want to help bring a state championship to Wayzata."
Sounds about right.
