Shanks, Prior Lake defeat Sibley

The Carson Shanks era at Prior Lake has begun! Prior Lake opened their year at home against Henry Sibley last night with a 59-52 victory. Shanks, a Utah State commit, led the Lakers with 18 points while Evan Kotchevar scored ten.
"Our offense worked inside/out," explained Prior Lake Coach Alex Focke. "We took advantage of our size up front and scored on high percentage shots. We were able to spread them out in the second half and get in the paint. Our team is very unselfish and all about the team and it showed down the stretch."

Sibley is a tough group who fought hard and lost to Chanhassen last week and then fell to Prior Lake by three buckets.
"It was a back and forth game," said Focke. "We stretched the lead out to 11 in the second half, but Henry Sibley was resilient and continually closed the gap. We hit some big shots and made some good plays down the stretch to secure the win."
Carson Shanks had 18 points in his varsity debut. Jon Sobaski had ten points and five assists. Evan Kotchevar had 13 points off the bench. Matt Dysthe scored eight points and was a terror on defense.
Zach Haas led Sibley with a game high 21 points.
Prior Lake faces Osseo this weekend as Shanks goes head to head with Osseo's 2014 standout big man Ian Theisen at the Breakdown Tip Off Classic this Saturday.
