South beats Johnson in 2 OTs

Did Lakeville South have some question marks coming into the 2011-12 season? Of course! You don't lose that type of quality seniors from last year and not have a couple uncertainties. On the other hand, the players returning are talented themselves as they defeated St. Paul Johnson last night in overtime.
Johnson controlled the game early grabbing a 50-42 lead at the half and a twelve point lead in the second half before the Cougars clawed back into the game.

"At about the six minute mark of the second half we had a 15-2 run to cut a 12 point deficit to a three point lead," said Lakeville South Coach John Sheehan. "From there it became a back and forth game."
Not only did the teams play one overtime but after two Ty Powell two free throws, the game was sent to a second overtime where South came away the victors.
"We pushed the tempo and hit free throws down the stretch in the second overtime," said Sheehan. "Jordan Flynn went four of four from the line in the second overtime to seal the win. He also had five three-pointers and 19 total points."
Nick Sanborn led South with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Johnson pitched in 13, Powell had 11, and Matt Heller scored a dozen.
Missouri State signed Marcus Marshall scored a game high 33 points for Johnson while Wayland Johnson II scored 23 for the Govs.
