States leading scorer makes D1 decision

Last year as a 6-foot-2 junior combo guard Redwood Valley's Mike Felt averaged a massive 30.3 points per game and that mark led the state of Minnesota in scoring. With the ability to shoot with the best and score in several different facets Felt drew division one interest and yesterday made his college decision.
"I have committed to North Dakota State," said Felt this afternoon. "I was comfortable with the coaches and the players. When I went up to visit I played with the guys and everything just felt right. The guys worked really hard and this is a team that is really looking to accomplish things. The school just gives more opportunity and there are three different schools where I can take classes."

Mike joined Rothsay's Jordan Aaberg as committed players to NDSU for the 2009 class.
Felt was a wanted commodity in the upper Midwest after his 30 plus points per game in 2007-08. He followed an incredible junior year with a solid showing this AAU season where Mike competed despite an ankle injury that hampered him well into June.
"South Dakota State had offered me as well," said Felt. "Montana was recruiting me, so was Weber State and Nebraska, but NDSU just felt right."
Last year Felt scored more than 40 points in five games and he had a season high of 56 points which is a new Redwood Valley High School record. As a junior Felt led the team in scoring, steals, assists, and free throw percentages.
Last year Redwood Valley was 14-11 as a team but they are setting their goals high for the upcoming season. "Hopefully we can make it to state this year," stated Felt. "My goal and our team goal this year is just to make it to state."
Felt is not just a basketball talent as he gets things done on the gridiron and in the classroom as well. He's the starting quarterback at his school, Mike is a four year letter winner in Track, he's always been an A or B Honor Roll student while taking some honors courses, and he's in the band.
As a sophomore Felt averaged 22.1 points per contest and as a freshman he put up 17 points per game. For the second time in his career this past winter Mike was named to the Southwest All Conference team, New Ulm Journal and West Central Tribune All Area Teams, and he was name area Player of the Year by the New Ulm Journal. The Associated Press named Felt to the All State Second Team as well.
