WAYZATA'S PG KODY WILLIAMS DISPLAYS DIVISION I BASKETBALL SKILL!

Ok, I usually don't do this, but boy was I wrong about this kid! Last summer I first caught a glimpse of Kody Williams while playing for MND1. The kid played solid for the premiere Minnesota AAU program. I waited to pass judgement on Williams until after watching him at Wayzata High school during the basketball season. Same results...solid point guard that could run a team and knock down a jumper when open. I categorized him as a division III type talent.

This COVID summer Kody Williams has proven me wrong. I got a chance to watch him with his new AAU basketball team Grassroots Sizzle 17U Under Armor Team. Playing under Coach Suggs Williams looked like a totally different player with a Fred VanVleet type game, except Williams might be a better athlete! Williams ran the PG for the Sizzle with efficiency, skill, and basketball IQ you would find in a division one basketball player.

Williams alongside Chris Morgan has led the Sizzle to a winning record despite not having the number one player in the United States Chet Holmgren, top 20 ESPN player Prince Aligbe and UCLA offered Hercy Miller son of rap mogul Master P. With Williams the Sizzle hasn't missed a beat while participating in regional tournaments instead of the Under Armor Circuit.

Williams is a 6'1" PG with elite-level athleticism. He caught my attention with a thunderous Eastbay funk dunk! It was the type of dunk you wouldn't expect from a kid his size from Wayzata Minnesota. With the Sizzle, Kody's game has flourished! Routinely he was able to get downhill and finish using his athleticism. He scored when needed even taking over in games in the final minutes to pull out victories! While watching him this summer I wondered why this kid was not more effective at Wayzata last season?

Williams might have been Wayzata's best basketball player and athlete! Under Coach Suggs, his game has transformed displaying the athleticism and basketball skill coaches covet at the division one level. If Williams had been playing in front of college coaches on the UA circuit he would have major offers by now! The good thing is the film don't lie! The offers will come!
